Modern Warfare 3 cuts MW2 Gunsmith feature and fans are thrilled

Oh yes! Ahead of Modern Warfare 3, Sledgehammer Games has continued its valuable trend of listening to community feedback, and this time they have made some massive changes to the Gunsmith.

The Gunsmith, one of Call of Duty's most valuable assets where weapons are crafted and loadouts formed, has evolved tenfold over the years, with more customisation features than ever before.

But coming into Modern Warfare 3, Sledgehammer is axing some of its most controversial Gunsmith features, and much to the delight of fans, Weapon Tuning is on the chopping block.

Modern Warfare 2's Gunsmith was a massive swing and miss, with many fans getting migraines at the progression process, calling for a return to the simpler "Pick Ten" days.

Now, Sledgehammer released a new blog post confirming that Weapon Tuning is one feature being left in the past, even for those pro-tuned weapon blueprints which will be carried over from MW2 to MW3.

"Based on community feedback, Sledgehammer Games has removed the Weapon Tuning feature present in MWII and has made further improvements to make Gunsmith easier to use," the developers said.

Even some of the most high-profile and die-hard players have praised this decision, with Tuning being considered to be too overcomplicated.

Taking to Twitter, ex-professional player Thomas "ZooMaa" Paparatto labelled it a "Massive W", while Warzone mogul Kris "Swagg" Lamberson added, "THANK YOU."

The Gunsmith isn't just being stripped back though, and this time Modern Warfare 3 will instead have a much more detailed statistics page, to see exactly what pros and cons you will get with each attachment.

Another golden nugget will also see you be able to search for attachments through a filtering system, which includes having selections such as mobility, range, and fire rate.

"Love to see stuff like this. Would be really cool to see a feature like loadout sharing where you can share to friends the loadouts you want them to try," added popular Call of Duty insider "TheGhostofHope".

It's clear to see that Modern Warfare 3 is moving in the right direction, although it may just be highlighting every missed opportunity from games gone by.
