While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer is the main attraction and keeps players around for the seasonal content, the game's campaign was incredibly popular at release.

Praised for its variety of exciting missions and interesting characters, Phillip Graves was a villain who immediately became a fan-favourite antagonist. Unfortunately, after Soap threw a C4 into the cockpit of Graves' tank, it was assumed that he'd been killed in the explosion.

Well, a recent post from Graves' actor Warren Kole has sparked speculation that he could be back for 2023's Call of Duty, with a possible Modern Warfare 3 return.

Graves could be set to return in Modern Warfare 3

Reliable Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope took to Twitter on June 24 to showcase an Instagram post from Warren Cole.

Cole is the actor behind the popular MW2 villain Graves, and he posted a picture of himself in a motion capture suit with the caption "ahem." As you would expect, this has sparked speculation that Graves may have somehow survived the tank explosion and could be set to make an appearance in MW3.

Although this could be the case, the Call of Duty writers would have their work cut out explaining how Graves escaped a C4 in the enclosed space of a tank cockpit. Others believe this picture just hints that Graves will be introduced as an Operator for multiplayer but for now, we'll just have to wait and see.

When is Modern Warfare 3 expected to release?

According to a report from Insider Gaming, CoD 2023 or Modern Warfare 3 is expected to release on November 10, 2023.

So based on these leaks, if Graves is due to return, the community won't have to wait too long before coming face-to-face with the popular villain again.

However, keep an eye out for a Graves Operator skin, as that could also be a reason why Cole was recently seen in a motion capture suit.
