Although some console fans are still struggling to get their hands on a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S due to stock shortages, there's still a lot of speculation about what's coming next.

As Sony and Microsoft have remained tight-lipped about the hardware and capabilities of their future consoles, no one expected a launch window to be revealed anytime soon.

Well, that all changed during the FTC Court hearing with Microsoft when the company actually revealed when it expects the PS6 and next Xbox to arrive.

Microsoft shares expectations for when the next Xbox could arrive

According to Call of Duty news Twitter account CharlieINTEL, during the FTC Court hearing Microsoft revealed that it expects the next Xbox to release in 2028.

This means players are likely going to have to wait four and a half years before Microsoft will be releasing its next-generation consoles.

Although this seems like a long time, the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S have not been available for too long and stock shortages have meant some fans are still unable to get their hands on one.

With a rough release window now public, it'll be interesting whether any other details are released about the consoles in the next few years.

It's worth noting that during the FTC Court hearing, Microsoft didn't reveal any details about its next console - just the potential 2028 launch window.

Either way, this is bound to excite a lot of players in the gaming community as a release window gives them the chance to start counting down.

We'll have to wait and see what Microsoft and Sony have in store, but there's still a long four-and-a-half years to wait.
