It has been a big couple of years for Cyberpunk 2077. The sci-fi shooter's catastrophe might be a marker in the industry, but we've come so far - an update that has fixed almost everything, a new critically acclaimed DLC, and an animated Netflix series that brought Cyberpunk to the masses in bright and dramatic fashion.

As Cyberpunk has reached the end of its narrative tether, fans have wondered what could come next. Luckily for you, we finally know. The time is finally here, as Cyberpunk 2077 is officially coming to live-action. It's all been revealed by a brand-new press release from CD Projekt Red.

The news has been released to press, announcing that CD Projekt Red is working with Anonymous Content to make the project happen. This comes after the recent success of the game's 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty DLC, as well as the popularity of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners on Netflix.

As for Anonymous Content, the company has worked on the likes of True Detective and Mr. Robot in the past, as well as currently working alongside the likes of Charlie Hunnam, Samuel L. Jackson, and Dominique Fishback.

Garrett Kemble, David Levine, Ryan Schwartz, and Bard Dorros will produce as part of Anonymous Content with Charlie Scully, and it'll be developed in very close collaboration with the creative team of Cyberpunk 2077.

Do we know if the live-action Cyberpunk project will be a movie or series?

There's no word on what the project will be in terms of format, but the pair of teams are currently tracking down a screenwriter to put something together. Whether you want a multi-part series on something like Amazon or a full-blown movie with Keanu Reeves playing Johnny Silverhand, it's a massive world to adapt.

No matter what shape the actual project takes, one thing's for sure - live-action Cyberpunk is officially on the way. And we couldn't be happier about it.
