It looks like Rockstar Games is finally lassoing the Nintendo Switch, as the rumoured Red Dead Redemption Remaster could bring the cowboy caper to Nintendo consoles for the first time. It's been 13 years since Red Dead Redemption rode into town, and now, fans are ready to draw their pistols all over again.

Hitting the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010, Red Dead Redemption came from the acclaimed studio behind Grand Theft Auto and put a Spaghetti Western spin on the idea of heisting cars and starting gangs. It remains one of the best-selling games of all time, so just imagine if it's brought to even more platforms.

Could Red Dead Redemption Remaster come to Nintendo Switch?

Red Dead Redemption is very much a product of its time, and although it's popped up on Game Pass and PlayStation Plus over the years, it's largely locked to its original consoles. Although we originally downplayed the idea of a new-gen Red Dead Redemption Remaster, it's back with a vengeance and looks more likely by the day.

Despite Rockstar still holding out on making the Red Dead Redemption Remaster official, one dataminer has discovered a placeholder that suggests the title will come to Nintendo Switch. Alongside PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 being listed as the original consoles, there's PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.

The OP notes that this is a back-end placeholder and can't be taken as 100% proof we're getting the Red Dead Redemption Remaster on Switch, although we can't see any other reason the Switch would be listed here. Going against the idea, it's odd the PS3 and Xbox 360 are listed here - there's no way it'll launch on these platforms.

Nintendo is usually known for its family-friendly outings for Mario and Pokemon, however, we've seen a move into more adult franchises. In particular, we've seen Resident Evil Village come to Switch, while Rockstar's own maligned GTA Trilogy also came to the console.

There's talk about a mythical Red Dead Redemption 3, but with that presumably being an age away if it even exists, Switch players can finally join the corral if the Red Dead Redemption Remaster comes to Nintendo Switch. Look out for an official announcement soon.
