It's been a rough half-decade for the Call of Duty Zombies community, who only really had one annual release that supported the undead game mode. They're now stuck on the uncoventail, albeit still fun, open-world DMZ crossover, which doesn't scratch the same itch as that of round-based gameplay.

Aside from Cold War with Die Maschine and Firebase Z, round-based Zombies has been almost non-existent in the last five years, and what with a live-service Zombies game being canned too, it's made some faithful begin to falter their hope.

Still, old-school Zombies fans are keeping the fire alive with new records on 13-year-old maps, and it might just be that Zombies Chronicles 2 is ready to reignite that flame.

A sequel to Zombies Chronicles is one of the most sought-after DLCs that Call of Duty has always eluded after bringing out the original collection, which featured all Zombies maps from World at War, Black Ops 1, and Black Ops 2.

Now, with the third and fourth Black Ops games and Cold War adding to the catalogue of titles that could all feature in a Zombies Chronicles 2 DLC, leakers have now claimed that the project does actually "exist" and has been made, just never released.

Popular leaker SemtexLeaks took to Twitter (X) to claim that "It did/does exist," adding, "Zombies Chronicles 2 featured Tranzit, Die Rise, and Buried." However, Zombies Chronicles 2 was made nearly six years ago with a target of releasing for Black Ops 4, according to the leaker.

Semtex Leaks continued to say, "It was initially planned for Black Ops 4, but due to the reception of Black Ops 4, the rumoured Year 2 content was cut. The Treyarch team was moved to Cold War Zombies, and presumably, the DLC was also."

They also claimed that "A similar situation happened with Cold War Zombies," which meant Treyarch was forced to move to Vanguard rather than look at releasing it then.

Still, the notion that Zombies Chronicles does exist still breathes positivity for the community though ahead of its rumoured arrival within the next two years. Many leakers claim that it will be coming as part of Treyarch's second-year title, which will mimic Modern Warfare 3 by serving as a eulogy to Call of Duty games gone by.
