Those who remember the initial announcement of the League of Legends anime Arcane back in 2019 may have assumed it was dead and buried - until now.

The series was revealed during the League 10th Anniversary celebrations, produced by Riot Games and from the studios of Fortihche Productions, fans were eager to see the anime come to life in 2020, but in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the show was delayed.

However, on May 3, Riot Games' first animated TV series AND the first LoL animated show Arcane came to life once again, and another teaser was revealed, announcing the premiere of Arcane on Netflix in the Fall of 2021.

League of Legends Netflix Show Teaser

The latest Arcane teaser is only a meagre 18 seconds long, but certainly got the hearts of League of Legends fans racing. Check it out below, and watch the full trailer from 2019 here.

What is Arcane About?

The new animated series event from the creators of League of Legends explores the origins of two iconic champions, Jinx and Vi, and the power that will tear them apart.

Not only this, the origin stories of several other characters will be retold, all based on the lore of the game. Arcane will be 14+ rated and include adult subject matter.

Riot Games co-founder Brandon "Ryze" Beck told The Hollywood Reporter that League of Legends players who are familiar with the lore would be appealed to most stating "originally, League started off with a bunch of characters and we threw them together really quickly. Over time, players became really attached to the characters and we wanted to build more of a universe around them [with Arcane].”

Shauna Spenley, Global President of Entertainment at Riot Games said of the animated series, “Arcane was created as a love letter to our players and fans, who have been asking us for more cinematic experiences that dive deeper into the worlds and champions in League of Legends".
