Square Enix's renegade mystical archaeologist is making a return to the gaming-sphere two years after her last involvement in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Lara Croft will be swinging from vines and unearthing the deepest and darkest artefacts that the world has to offer whilst slaying beasts and looking stylish again, but this time with a twist.

The developers have revealed that Tomb Raider Reloaded, the next installation of Lara Croft's adventures will be coming to mobile screens in 2021. Croft, who had previously been portrayed by the likes of Angelina Jolie in the film adaptations, will become animated in her next chapter, with the developers opting for an arcade approach to the app that's due next year.

Braced with her signature plaited ponytail and dual-wield pistols, we got the first glimpse at Lara through the official Tomb Raider Twitter page, with fans having mixed reactions as her 25th-anniversary approaches.

The clip doesn't reveal too much in terms of the potential adventures you may plunder on, rather showcasing the chosen artwork with foes such as a wolf, rock monster, a giant spider, and T. rex being on display before landing on the heroine herself.

Opting for an arcade animation for a mobile game has been received with divisive reactions, to say the least. However, the majority have been cast into wild anticipation to embark on a new voyage with Lara. With the release set for 2021, we shouldn't have to wait too long before we can duck and dive through majestic caves with one of gaming's most beloved characters again.
