As soon as we heard that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was going to give us a gender-flipped Mr. Freeze in Season 2, we knew it was going to get a frosty reception. In a game that was accused of ruining Batman's legacy and going 'woke' due to Harley Quinn's prominence, we're preparing for things to get a lot worse.

Rocksteady Studios is known for its acclaimed work on the Arkham trilogy, but with Arkham Knight bowing out in 2015, the 2024 release of Kill the Justice League means it's been quite the wait for the developer's latest game. Alongside many thinking it's not been worth the wait, others are worried KTJL is already circling the drain.

Kill the Justice League players are worried about Season 2

Rocksteady took some heat for releasing a live-service game, although there was talk about a massive roadmap that should keep Kill the Justice League pumped full of content for years. With Batman having one of the best rogues' galleries in comic books, players were excited to see what was on the way.

We'd already covered how the game's Elseworlds potential was giving us a female Mr. Freeze, but now that Rocksteady has revealed her alongside the Season 2 roadmap and a July 11 release, disgruntled gamers are once again sharpening their pitchforks.

The two-episode season includes a new battle pass, new weapons, and snow falling over Metropolis. For many, though, this isn't the content refresh they were looking for. On both X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit, it's clear our love for the game has 'cooled' even more since release.

One critic said, "She looks so bad lmao and I used to be a big fan of the game," while another added, "Rocksteady just showed us all how f**king lazy they are," amidst accusations of recycling Brainiac content. A third chimed in, "Why even bother at this point?"

As well as calls for Rocksteady to cancel future updates, someone said, "Someone please shut down Suicide Squad." The most vocal concluded, "Thanks for posting this, it reminds me to leave this subreddit. It’s been real guys but this studio is either gonna close down or stop creating content for this game. GG. My hopes were high."

At the last check, Kill the Justice League was rolling our four seasons of content before the end of 2024, supposedly returning to Gotham City and culminating in a Deathstroke-themed Season 4. With player numbers flatlining in the Season 1 update, it's more than just the fans worried Kill the Justice League will be living up to its namesake before too long.
