After watching the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs and seeing DarkZero Esports lift the trophy, Mikkel "Mande" Hestbek took to Twitter on July 16 to reveal that he would be returning to competitive Apex Legends.

This sparked a huge amount of excitement in the Apex community, with a lot of Mande's fans speculating on who the talented player would partner up with to create a squad.

In a recent stream following this, Mande revealed that he'd be grouping up with Martin "Graceful" Wongphrom and Konstantin "Hardecki" Kozlov. While fans are hopeful this team can go on to achieve great things, Philip "ImperialHal" Dosen believes there's one fundamental problem that will hold them back.

ImperialHal claims Mande's ALGS squad has a problem

During one of ImperialHal's recent Twitch streams, Mande commented in his chat that he "can't wait to grief [Hal] one day again."

In response, the TSM IGL questioned Mande's decision to create a pro team with just MnK players, and no one who plays controller.

"There's no way you think triple mouse and key is a thing," asked Hal, with Mande arguing back that he doesn't "think we need it" to win matches.

As neither Mande, Graceful, nor Hardecki are experienced with controller, they'll be no aim assist available to any of them. For Hal, this is a major mistake and will put them at a huge disadvantage.

Why is having a controller player in ALGS so important?

In short, having a controller player in a pro-Apex Legends team is important as they have access to aim assist. This makes it easier for them to land their shots on target, especially during close-range intense skirmishes where every shot counts.

While it's certainly possible to have three MnK players in a pro team, as showcased by 100 Thieves, it's not a strategy recommended by Hal.

So, with Mande going down this route, it'll be interesting to see whether the squad's top-tier mechanics can hold up against the controller players who have access to the power of aim assist.
