It has been a hot minute since Apex Legends was the battle royale du jour. A falloff in the player count has seen a drop in popularity, but one of the community's loudest voices has a theory.

One of the game's all-time greats, Phillip "ImperialHal" Dosen, has claimed that the reason the game is "boring" is because of the characters, specifically thanks to nerfs that have made them less exciting to play.

Despite a new wave of passive and armour-based abilities being added to Apex Legends, ImperialHal has taken a swipe at the developers for making every legend too balanced.

The idea is that every character is now "boring" with little to differentiate between them, leaving just raw gun skill as the decisive factor for good players.

"I’m tired of playing boring ass characters," ImperialHal said on a recent stream.

"Every character just gets nerfed, nobody gets buffed and it just becomes so bland and boring. They need to stop doing that s**t," he continued.

These comments come after Hal took issue with Horizon's kit, who is yet another character to undergo sizeable changes.

Even the latest character, Alter, hasn't made much of an impact, despite having some relatively quirky abilities. She's just not quite been as overpowered as players might have hoped, and has since dwindled into the pack as 'just another legend'.

"When was the last time we had a good character that was released too? The last good character that was released was Seer, right? We get one good character every five seasons.” Hal said.

"They need to start buffing s**t. There's so many characters that are useless."

Apex Legends needs to do something, and maybe the secret to success lies with the individual legends and their creativity.
