Magic could be in the air once again, as we might soon be packing our owls and trunks for another trip to Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. After the chart-topping success of Hogwarts Legacy in 2023, it was always expected that the franchise would continue in some form.

The Warner Bros games division is in a state of flux right now, and while Hogwarts Legacy made a not-so-small fortune, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League reportedly lost the studio an estimated $200 million. If a Hogwarts Legacy sequel can deliver, it could stick some coins back in WB's Gringotts vault.

Hogwarts Legacy sequel hinted at by Avalanche job listing

Game Rant reports that Avalanche is currently looking for a Producer on an unnamed project. It would be foolish to assume this is a mythical Hogwarts Legacy sequel, however, the description has fans shouting "accio Hogwarts Legacy 2" with glee.

The ideal candidate must have experience with open-world RPGs, with a mention of "action/magical combat games." The listing also mentions that the mysterious game will become "what's next" for Avalanche following Hogwarts Legacy. If that wasn't enough, a recent job ad for a Senior Producer was recruiting for "a new open world, action RPG."

Of course, there are some drawbacks here. The Senior Producer role gave the nod to a "live ops" phase for post-release, immediately throwing up red flags that we'll be getting another live-service game. Elsewhere, a recent shakeup at Warner Bros. cast doubt over a Hogwarts Legacy sequel.

The publisher has doubled down on its promise for more Wizarding World games, which we've already seen with the upcoming Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions. This all comes after Warner Bros. Games President David Haddad referred to Hogwarts Legacy in particular as a "long-term franchise."

Remember that Hogwarts Legacy sold 22 million copies in 2023 and broke a 14-year winning streak to top Call of Duty as the best-selling game of the year. We heard about a potential Director's Cut from KTJL's Rocksteady, but away from that, a full-blown sequel has far more potential.

We'd previously heard about Hogwarts Legacy 2 last year, and while we originally wrote it off as another sketchy leak, it looks increasingly like there's more to the story. Although there are sure to be those who are disappointed in WB's commitment to the Potterverse due to the divisive views of J.K. Rowling, Hogwarts Legacy's bottom line made a sequel inevitable.
