Aside from guarding the elven blood Princess Cirilla of Cintra and donning a tight blue suit and red cape to save the world from threats like Lex Luther, Henry Cavill is a self-professed nerd in his downtime

The actor behind Geralt of Rivia and Superman has often gloated about how much he loves out-of-the-norm books and games, with Warhammer at the top of his list of hobbies.

With The Witcher now behind him, Cavill has teamed up with Amazon to produce Warhammer 40,000 shows and movies, as Games Workshop confirms he will be an Executive Producer on the new projects.

Games Workshop has announced (via Warhammer Community) that the deal with Amazon to bring Warhammer 40,000 to screens through both film and TV mediums has been signed off, with scripts now underway.

In a statement on their blog post, Games Workshop said, "Today we have an update, and it’s one we’ve all been longing to hear. We’ve now signed the full agreement and the next stage can begin!"

"All we can tell you right now is that an elite band of screenwriters, each with their own particular passion for Warhammer, is being assembled to help bring the setting and characters you love to the screen."

The company claims the deal involves movies and TV shows, although its not yet clear to the direction that we'll see these both head in, and whether the films and shows will be intertwined at all. But there will be some eye candy...

Not only will Cavill be behind the camera and writing for the unnamed Warhammer products, but Games Workshop has also confirmed that the brute of a man will also be involved as a character...or maybe several.

"This illustrious group will be championed by Henry Cavill, who stands ready to take his place as executive producer – bringing his pen, sword and/or spear to the project," the statement reads.

The deal was originally announced in December last year with only a few scarce details, and now, Games Workshop claim it's "not uncommon unusual for projects to take two to three years from this point" to air. This means we could see the new Warhammer 40K products on our screens as early as 2025.
