It looks like all those leaks and rumours were right for once, with Halo Infinite Battle Royale "confirmed" for 2022. While 343 Industries' first-person shooter vanished from the spotlight almost as quickly as it arrived there, there are hopes that a mythical battle royale mode could spice things up.

In an era where the battle royale game reigns supreme and the likes of Fortnite and Call of Duty: Warzone duke it out at the top, gamers are split into the camps of whether a Halo Infinite battle royale is a must-have addition, or just the long-running franchise milking another cash cow.

Is Halo Infinite Battle Royale Coming?

Speaking to the Xbox Two Podcast, WindowsCentral journalist Jez Corden hyped the release of Halo Infinite Battle Royale in 2022. Discussing the incoming mode, Corden explained, "I think there’s no hard deadline on it, if it's not ready they're not going to ship it until possibly season 4, which is probably why they haven't fully announced it yet."

Expanding on what we can expect, he added, "What I've heard, and this is that they're testing, they're testing a sort of PvPvE kind of thing… It’s not a traditional battle royale, it’s not going to be a complete copy clone or PUBG for example, it’s not going to be a one-to-one clone. I’ve heard it’s going to be duos and trios."

Although Corden stopped short of officially calling it Halo Infinite Battle Royale, we don't know what else to call it. He concluded, "It's a big map with shrinking circles, like a battle royale, it forces you to move around the map… there are different objectives and things like that. You’ll be able to capture forward operating bases, for example."

So there you have it, Halo Infinite Battle Royale in 2022. Will it be the game's saving grace, or is it too little, too late? We're sure you hardened Spartans will decide the troubled title's fate.
