Forget a pinch of salt, you need a whole Vice City's worth of salt for the latest GTA 6 leak. While we finally know Rockstar Games is tinkering away in the garage on the next chapter of the automotive adventure, we're a long way off taking her for a spin on the track.

Long before Rockstar made Grand Theft Auto 6 official, we were already adrift in a sea of rumours about what was coming next to GTA. You might remember the famous Project Americas leak that suggested there would be a female protagonist, a South America setting, and Narcos-inspired cartels. Although this has never been made official, it's a rumour that just won't go away.

What's The Latest GTA 6 Leak?

Over on Xfire, there's a massive GTA 6 leak which could tell us where things are heading. The scoop comes from trusted insider Matheusvictorbr, who has a pretty reasonable track record when it comes to this sort of thing. Still, let's tread carefully here as we dive straight in.

The big talking point is the addition of a playable brother and sister as the main protagonists. It's something we reported on back in April, but now, there's a little more to the story. As previously suggested, the prologue will take place in 2003, with the twins' parents being killed by a cartel. This segment of the story will apparently take place in Brazil - which fits nicely with those Project Americas leak.

Things will apparently then jump forward to the 2020s, with the main campaign supposedly set in either 2023 or 2024. The twins will meet again, but on opposite sides of the track. If Matheusvictorbr is to be believed, the male sibling will be part of GTA's DOA (a parody of the DEA), while his sister has her own mission of vengeance by climbing the ranks of the cartel that killed her parents as a deadly hitwoman.

GTA 6 Release Date: When Will We Know More?

Given that Rockstar is so cagey with its development, it's unclear how the leaker gets so close to these potential plot points, but we'll have to wait and see. Excitingly, they describe the story as a "first" for the video game industry as we explore the cartel way of life. It's true that it's one that's been played out a lot in live-action but less often in video games.

The leak denies the claims we'll be visiting the 70s, 80s, or 90s, so you can seemingly wave goodbye to those hopes of a Vice City sequel. In fact, Matheusvictorbr debunks most of Project Americas as a fraud. As for the million-dollar question of the GTA 6 release date, fans are in the dark. The mention of a 2023 or 2024 setting might indicate either of these years, but we aren't buying GTA 6 will come racing into action next year... or even the year after. Either way, we've been warned not to expect any GTA 6 updates in 2022, so it's back to twiddling our thumbs and trawling Reddit for clues.
