Fortnite Looks Set To Add Dinosaurs To Season 6

Hold onto your butts - it looks like Epic Games is opening the doors to its very own Jurassic Park in Fortnite. We've only just dressed in our finest leopard print loincloths, put on an animal bone headdress, and smeared the blood of our enemies on our faces to leap off the Battle Bus for Chapter 2 Season 6. Now, Fortnite Primal is wasting no time in moving with the times, which is ironic considering its prehistoric setting.

After some were disappointed that the promises of a "chaotic" Chapter 2 Season 5 didn't quite live up to its potential, Season 6 already looks like it's ready to deliver on Epic VP Mark Rein's promise that things will be "wild" this time around. After Agent Jonesy and the Foundation tried to seal off the Zero Point, we were given a blast from the past (quite literally), as the centre of the map was given a prehistoric overhaul.

While old favourites like Craggy Cliffs and Stealthy Stronghold are largely untouched, Colossal Coliseum is now Colossal Crops and Salty Towers is now Boney Burbs. If that wasn't enough, the Zero Point has also expanded into Weeping Woods, where you can now tame wolves. If the latest leaks are to be believed, wolves will be a little "tame" compared to the dino-mite idea of bringing dinosaurs to the map.

Why do players think dinosaurs are coming to Fortnite Season 6?

Trusted dataminer FortTory has discovered what looks like a dinosaur egg, as well as several mentions of the word "dino" in the game's code. Added to this, iFireMonkey has found a mention of Wild Raptor that will be hostile like a wolf and boar. Better yet, it sounds like the Raptor will be tameable - turning players into their very own Owen Grady from Jurassic World. For now, we have to take the dinosaurs with a pinch of salt, but either way, it's easy to imagine them roaming around the revamped map as the season progresses.

Let's also remember how the Season 6 teaser included what looked like a dinosaur eye and the cryptic line that said, "And though wolves may roam, the most fearsome predators have yet to hatch". Just when we thought we'd left the hunters behind in Season 5, it could be time to practice your bow skills to take on these toothy terrors that have been lying dormant for millions of years.

Is just one dino enough though? If Raptors are on the way, there surely has to be a T-Rex out there too? It just so happens Stealthy Stronghold is just about the right size to hold a supersized T-Rex, meaning we could have another secret Battle Pass skin and boss battle akin to Season 5's Predator assault in Season 5.

What else could dinosaurs mean for Fortnite Season 6?

Hostile animals like boars and wolves have already proved hard to take down. Just like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, taking on a pack of wolves is a pulse-pounding encounter. We imagine taking on dinosaurs will be even harder, and if Raptors are anything like the "clever girls" we've seen in the movies, we could be in trouble.

If dinosaurs are coming to Fortnite, it raises further questions on what it could mean for Season 6. We know Fortnite loves a good crossover skin, and while Lara Croft is already on the way, what about a Jurassic Park skin pack? Jurassic World: Dominion is coming next year and will bring back the old crowd, so imagine motoring around the map in that iconic JP jeep while dressed as a topless Jeff Goldblum - we can but hope!

Maybe we're getting ahead of ourselves, but with opinions on Season 6 already divided, it's clear Epic will have to do something to win its critics round. To be honest, we just want to be able to ride dinosaurs across the beach at Sweaty Sands. Either way, this could be one Fortnite event that's been 65 million years in the making.
