As the dust settled on Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, and even more dust rolls in with its apocalyptic Chapter 5 Season 3, it's time to look back on a season of maligned mythics and lacklustre map changes. Chapter 5 Season 2 promised a gift from the gods, but ultimately, it felt like we were being dragged to the underworld.

Chapter 5 Season 2 only started in March 2024, but as we limp toward the end on May 24, many are glad to see the back of Myths & Mortals. Of all the issues that have plagued Epic Games' latest season, the deluge of mythic weapons has left it feeling more like an anime overload than a genuine game of skill.

Fortnite fans celebrate the 'death' of Avatar mythics

Over on the Fortnite subreddit, fans are cheering that the end of the season means the end of the Avatar mythics. In particular, Waterbending has become a hated aspect of Chapter 5 Season 2. While some could find the fun of zipping around the map with Airbending, Waterbending is frowned upon by most.

The Mythic has stuck around a lot longer than the other elemental powers, meaning there are still those ruling it over matches and snatching Victory Crowns with Waterbending. One grumbled, "Good riddance. I hate waterbending more than snipers. I think Epic could have nerfed the range heavily, and it would still have been a great weapon."

Someone else fumed, "It became a must-have item pretty much. If someone didn't pick it up, our team is at an instant disadvantage. Saying that, I will be happy to see it leave," while a third said, "It’s definitely the most boring weapon I’ve ever used. Not satisfying. No idea how people can just run around and use nothing but that."

Others vented their frustrations with the Chains of Hades, which we know Doja Cat is not a fan of. Chapter 5 Season 2 has struggled with balancing weapons, and from the OP Thunderbolt of Zeus through to one-shot snipers, the devs haven't been able to catch a break.

We've been requesting a Fornite x Fallout collab for longer than we care to remember, and finally, Chapter 5 Season 3 is delivering the goods. Epic Games has confirmed the Wasteland of Bethesda's apocalyptic adventure will be making its mark on the Fortnite map, and while we expect all the usual cash-grab skins, we want something more.

Players are dying to dive into the season and see what Mad Max and Fallout-themed weapons there are. One popular suggestion is the introduction of the Power Armour, which would undoubtedly be a strong bit of kit but slow you down on the battlefield. We imagine it working a bit like a mech.

Fortnite previously added its B.R.U.T.E. mechs back in Season X and quickly vaulted them at the start of Chapter 2 Season 1. Still, we saw a different variant in the form of the Salvaged B.R.U.T.E.s of Chapter 2 Season. Despite Fortnite still keeping a lid on what's coming, the Power Armour is a must-have of any Fallout collab.
