Fortnite fans are refusing to buy the new Star Wars pass
In the words of Han Solo, it's not wise to upset a Wookiee. If only Epic Games had taken this into consideration when it was working on its latest mini pass for Fortnite. As May 4 rolls around once again, we're celebrating Star Wars Day with all things saber and Sith in the galaxy far, far away of Fortnite.
Like Star Wars Day has become an annual celebration, it's the same in Fortnite since it honoured The Rise of Skywalker back in 2019. With the whoosh of lightsabers and heavy breathing of Darth Vader, we've previously seen the likes of Darth Maul, Rey, The Mandalorian, Darth Vader and more make their mark.

It's baffling that we've seen Black Krrsantan before the iconic Chewbacca, but all of that's about to change with 2024's Star Wars x Fortnite crossover. While Han's legendary partner in crime is sure to be a popular choice, some fans are angrier than the grouchy Wookiee himself, thanks to the new mini pass.
Fans on Reddit have noted that the LEGO Pass: Rebel Adventure is priced at 1,400 V-Bucks for its Premium Track. Yes, you'll get the LEGO Chewbacca outfit just for upgrading, but it's quite the leap from last year's pass in Battle Royale.
Back then, you could upgrade your Find the Force pass to the premium track to try and earn Darth Maul ahead of him arriving in the shop. It also came with a slew of other rewards, meaning it was well worth the 1,000 V-Buck price of admission.
LEGO Fortnite wasn't around last year, and while there's no escaping the popularity of LEGO Star Wars, we're not convinced that a Star Wars collab will be able to drive Fortnite diehards into the survival mode. It's clear the Rebel Adventure pass is the focus of Star Wars Day, but no offence, it's not exactly Darth Maul.

Click to enlargeIt's true that buying the Rebel Adventure pass will only cost you 1,400 V-Bucks and you'll automatically unlock the standard Chewbacca skin for BR, meaning you're effectively getting the Mos Eisley decorations for free. Also, we expect Chewie to cost 1,500 V-Bucks so you're probably saving a bit.
Still, others have pulled the entire thing apart, moaning that a 400 V-Buck jump from last year's pass is ridiculous. One critic grumbled, "Do not reward them and punish them by not buying it. People already weren't buying Lego sets so this one failing despite having Chewbacca is a genuine possibility."
Another moaned, "It’s clear Epic is set on this shit, they’ve dumped too much money into and can’t turn back. Nothing we do could get to them," while a third said, "Still a horrible deal and doesn't deserve to be an entire pass, but still less than shop."
Looking at a potentially bigger problem, someone concluded, "I imagine Lego stuff is always gonna be overpriced because Lego might want royalties off every purchase. And if prices start being inflated there it's gonna affect everything else too." Like it or lump it, it looks like Fortnite is hitting us hard with that LEGO tax.
