Fortnite Chapter 5 could be coming sooner than expected

The current chapter of Fortnite has been an absolute treat - but to be perfectly honest, we've said that every chapter so far. Epic's game seems to keep improving with each new era of gameplay, adding new locales, weapons, means of rotation, and characters to the roster of the already eclectic battle royale game.

The current season added grind rails and new Star Wars content to the Unreal Engine 5 edition, making a melting pot of absurdity that has only sold players more. Now, it looks like Epic Games has no reason to slow down, especially as it looks like we could be in for a new change with Fortnite Chapter 5.

Leakers hint that Fortnite Chapter 5 is coming soon

Though we'd expect to hold out on the current successful chapter for a little while longer, one of the most reputable leakers in the Fortnite space has hinted that Fortnite Chapter 4 could be coming to a close much sooner than we thought.

Shiina has hinted on Twitter that the current chapter will end after its fourth season, only another season from the upcoming season, and that Chapter 5 will launch at the end of the year.

He says that this validates his theory that the game will now opt for annual chapters rather than ones that last longer, which makes sense, but it's still just a theory.

It's a fascinating claim, as it would mean that Fortnite would be set to become a much more fast-paced game with less time between the massive changes that a new chapter brings - but it's one that makes sense.

It's frustrating for some that they have to watch the clock to make sure they've beaten the current Fortnite Battle Pass in good time, but for others, it's a testament to the ever-changing landscape of the trailblazing battle royale. Whichever side you sit on, it's best to know when exactly new content will arrive.

The current season will end on June 2 2023, giving way to Chapter 4 Season 3 - and if Shiina is to be believed, it'll be the penultimate of the current chapter. Still, that means we'd be in for some lengthier seasons, but it's still a far cry from Chapter 1 running for two full years. 

We'll just have to wait and see if this Fortnite Chapter 5 news comes to light, but it'd make for yet another overhaul in the world of Epic's plucky shooter. Say what you like about Fortnite, but it certainly isn't boring.
