Hang up your Battle Rifle, hop in your combine harvester, and join the farming frenzy because Farming Simulator 22 is beating both Halo Infinite and Battlefield 2042 on Steam.

The latest instalment to the Farming Simulator franchise may have only been released on November 22, but it seems dedicated fans have been flocking to Steam ready to install the game.

The most-recent Halo and Battlefield games were two of the most highly-anticipated releases this year. However, it seems more players are keen to step away from chaotic, adrenaline-fuelled warfare and are moving on to greener pastures.

According to ResetEraFarming Simulator 22 was the fifth title with the highest current player count on November 22 on Steam - reaching a peak of 105,543 wannabe farmers. At the same time, Halo: Infinite was in ninth place with 85,187, whereas Battlefield 2042 wasn't even in the Top 10. That being said, Halo has pulled in more punters than Farming Simulator overall by reaching a peak of 171,372.

At the time of writing, Farming Simulator may have slipped down to the tenth spot, but it is still ranking higher than both Halo and Battlefield in terms of current players. Along with this, it has had a higher peak of current players than Battlefield with a count of 105,636 compared to 60,640.

Since its release, 82% of Farming Simulator 22 players have given the game a positive review. A good deal of praise has been heaped upon the game's improved graphics and sound effects in comparison to the previous entries in the franchise.

As one player claimed: "The graphics have definitely improved and are definitely better than in the predecessor. A few visual bugs are present, but these will surely be fixed. With the new textures, the game looks quite a bit more realistic again." Another even claimed that they had refunded Battlefield to buy Farming Simulator. Their consensus- "Money well spent."

However, Farming Simulator 22 isn't exactly the cream of the crop for everyone. For example, a number of farming enthusiasts have said that the new game has very few improvement to distinguish it from its predecessor. While others aren't impressed with the new seasonal cycle that has been introduced in the game.

Then again, Halo Infinite and Battlefield 2042 have had their own fair share of criticism, but for many fans, Halo comes out on top between the two. Maybe Battlefield can take out the competition with its all-mighty sniper rifle. But would it match up to a shiny green John Deere tractor? I think not.
