There's a lot that separates Yharnam and the Lands Between, but with both Bloodborne and Elden Ring being FromSoftware games that sit under the same gruellingly hard Souls-like genre, you can bet they share a lot of DNA.

Whereas Yharnam was a gothic nightmare populated by vampiric monsters (yes, we know they're not technically vampires), the Lands Between have been praised for being an oddly alive realm, with each of its distinct areas acting like a mini FromSoft game. With Bloodborne being held as one of the best, FromSoftware hid some clever nods to Elden Ring's bloody brother.

What's Elden Ring's Secret Bloodborne Feature?

We've covered Elden Ring's weird and wonderful character creator, and while some were originally horrified by this "janky" customisation model, we've since seen it be used to recreate everyone from Samuel L. Jackson to Darth Maul. Interestingly, the more obscure end of the spectrum is actually a direct Bloodborne Easter egg.

The famed character deformation of Bloodborne was not accessible to players, but instead, was to create NPCs and show the consequences of drinking blood in Yharnam. As shared by YouTuber Zuille the Witch, a deformation slider can be found in Elden Ring... if you look hard enough.

Basically, if you max out the sliders, you might notice this creation that only a mother could love looks like the NPCs of Bloodborne. Added to this, the OP reminds us that this hidden option also appeared in Dark Souls III. Doing a side by side, it's clear this is the same feature back for Elden Ring.

Are There More Bloodborne Nods In Elden Ring?

Of course, the memories of Bloodborne are flowing like the red stuff in Elden Ring. Notably, there's the return of that rotten scoundrel Patches. As a mainstay of FromSoft games since 2008's Armored Core: For Answer, Patches pops up in a new form for every entry. Our personal favourite is Patches the Spider in Bloodborne. He's not a spider this time around, but trust us, Patches the Untethered is just as annoying.

Unfortunately, you can't access the deformation slider just yet. The fact that Zuille has used it suggests it could soon be added via mods. In the meantime, you can make the most of trying to create Pulp Fiction's Jules, Metal Gear's Venom Snake, or even Shrek on your own.
