Dragon Ball: Sparkling! Zero is set to smash its way onto our screens later this year by boasting one of the largest rosters that we've ever seen.

With an army of 164 playable characters, Dragon Ball: Sparkling! Zero will see fan-favourites duke it out. But, what will this colossal lineup actually be doing, aside from kicking each other through the planet?

Bandai Namco has now released a game mode showcase which details just what we can expect to get to grips with Dragon Ball: Sparkling! Zero.

Dragon Ball: Sparkling! Zero's latest trailer shows off new game modes

Kicking things off, Dragon Ball: Sparkling! Zero has a story mode named Episode Battle. To be expected, for sure, but the developers appear to have put a lot of consideration into this, as you'll be able to operate as eight main characters where your decisions will directly influence how the missions play out.

Then we have Custom Battle, which adds a new spin on how you usually fight, allowing a range of variables to be changed, the creation of new cutscenes, and different win conditions that need to be achieved. You can create your own battle to face other players or choose a challenge of someone else making, beating enemies at their own game. Satisfying.

Splitscreen is a dying art, but Bandai Namco is clinging on to the legacy of couch play.

Alongside the main story, players can also spar off against their friends in the local multiplayer mode, although it has been cut down to just one state with the Hyperbolic Time Chamber.
