While Behaviour Interactive has already given us a who's who of foul foes from our nightmares in Dead by Daylight, there are still plenty on our horror wishlist. Rivalled only by Fortnite in terms of crossovers, Dead by Daylight has never been short of content to keep players coming back to the Void.

From staples like Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger to Chucky and Alien, we've also enjoyed more unusual collabs with Left Behind and even Nicolas Cage. Now, another horror icon could be ticked off the Dead by Daylight bucket list, with a Five Nights at Freddy's crossover possibly on the way.

Dead by Daylight has become just as good at teasing its upcoming collabs as it has at delivering them. Now, a Behaviour Interactive survey is gauging interest in a number of hot IPs. Asking whether you own specific games or are interested in playing them, the survey namedrops the following franchises:

  • Payday 2
  • Helldivers 2
  • Valheim
  • Hunt: Showdown
  • Deep Rock Galactic
  • The Forest/Sons of the Forest
  • Phasmophobia
  • 7 Days to Die
  • Enshrouded
  • Left 4 Dead
  • Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach
  • Lethal Company
  • Escape the Backrooms
  • Pacific Drive

We don't see a Payday or Valheim collab working, but when it comes to the likes of Five Nights at Freddy's and Phasmophobia, their legacy as horror favourites stands them in good stead. It's interesting that Lethal Company is named here, especially as they are often named as competition for DBD.

It's also worth remembering that Left 4 Dead already made an appearance in The Fog all the way back in 2017, with that game's Bill arriving via a free update as well as skins based on other Left 4 Dead characters.

This is far from announcing Freddy Fazbear for the next DbD chapter, but it's enough to pique our interest. It wouldn't be the first time Behaviour Interactive has surveyed players on IPs and game modes, and in terms of pop culture interest, seeing the maniacal robots of FNaF on a pizzeria-themed map is sure to be a favourite.

The Dead by Daylight movie will take cues from Five Nights at Freddy's

Like there's been a boom in asymmetric horror games, there's been a similar resurgence in video game movies. Horror video game movies have always been popular, and while early ventures like the Dwayne Johnson-led DOOM were pretty dire, 2023's Five Nights at Freddy's defied critics by breaking records.

While we'll be honest that Emma Tammi's Five Nights at Freddy's movie isn't going to be winning any awards for critical acclaim, it's already gained a cult following. Blumhouse gave us the FNAF movie, and speaking to Collider, Vice President of Feature Film Development Ryan Turek explained how Freddy will impact its DbD movie.

Amazon has reiterated its upcoming Fallout series hasn't been made 'for fans,' whereas Turek explained, "What we've learned from Five Nights at Freddy's is, obviously, steer towards the fans and make a video game adaptation for the fans." It's hard to imagine where the story will take us, but to be honest, isn't that part of the fun?
