It took three years to get here, but finally, Cyberpunk 2077 seems to be the game CD Projekt Red always planned for it to be. Cast your mind back to Cyberpunk 2077's botched launch, which was littered with bugs and got so bad, Sony even pulled it from the PlayStation store.

The early days of Cyberpunk 2077 seem like a bad nightmare, and with a new-gen overhaul coming alongside the Phantom Liberty DLC, it feels like a whole new game. The sci-fi shooter is back in a big way, with plenty of reasons to jump back into Night City. Be warned, though, you might be in for a scare.

Over on Reddit, players are sharing their trauma after playing Phantom Liberty's "Somewhat Damaged" mission. Saying it feels like a spiritual successor to Alien: Isolation, it's clear the mission is making gamers' blood run cold. For those who've played, it's easy to see the comparison.

With the OP saying "Didn't realise I downloaded a f*****g horror game," others soon joined in. Another added, "It was how I learned I will never be able to play alien isolation," and a third said, "It's the f*****g audio for me. Had me freaking the f**k out with that thing clanking around."

A fourth concluded, "100% As soon as I got to the elevator I was shitting my pants from the vibe. How quiet it is, how the doors open so slowly... IDK, something about it immediately made me realize that this shit is about to turn into a horror game."

In "Somewhat Damaged," a robotic spider stalks you around an abandoned base, channelling the vibes of Amanda Ripley being followed around the Sevastopol in Alien: Isolation. Creative Assembly doesn't look like it's moving forward with a sequel, but that doesn't matter because we can get our frightening fix from CDPR.

Unfortutantely, we know Phantom Liberty is the end of the road for Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red recently confirmed there will be no more DLCs, with efforts now pivoting to the game's sequel. Dubbed Project Orion, the game will return to the Cyberpunk world, although we don't know where or when.

Some have conjured up the idea of a futuristic sequel where the Blackcell has evolved. Others aren't sure we'll even return to Night City, suggesting a brand-new locale set in this world. Even as the Sun sets on Cyberpunk 2077, at least it's going out with a bang.
