Who’d have thought Call of Duty and Among Us could make any kind of crossover? The franchises couldn’t seem further apart, with CoD opting for all-guns-blazing action and Among Us punishing you if you’re not killing stealthily enough.

But, against all odds and probably in an effort to capitalise on the success of the game, Call of Duty have introduced a new playlist to keep gameplay fresh - and we think it looks a little familiar.

The new Double Agent mode has been added to Black Ops Cold War as a part of the season five update, and it’s coming with a very familiar-looking flair. The game mode begins with each player assigned to one of three different classes. Double agents are those tasked with killing everyone else as quietly and simply as possible, who can also bag a win by detonating explosives around the map while going undetected.

Then there’s the investigator, the player designated to accuse players of their misdemeanours by piecing together clues and can uproot the double agents.

Finally, there are the operatives - once the double agents have been exposed, the operative get to race in weapons in hand, and do everything they can to eliminate them. It’s an interesting twist on the game mode we know and love, and it’s a twist that makes it just a bit more Call of Duty.

The game mode joins its own playlist in Black Ops Cold War on August 12 along with everything else that season five has to offer. You’ll be able to jump into a game simply by clicking on its playlist from the Multiplayer main menu. Easy.

The game mode looks like a lot of fun, blending what works so well about Among Us, Trouble in Terrorist Town and Call of Duty in a mad cocktail. We can’t wait to give it a go for ourselves, and almost immediately perform a kill that’s too obvious and get wasted by operatives.
