Aim assist has been a hot topic in the Call of Duty community for years now, especially for those who use MnK and feel as if controller players have a massive advantage.

Despite voicing their frustrations, the devs have always been reluctant to address the situation and it often feels as if it's getting ignored.

Well, this isn't the case in The FINALS, where Embark Studios has implemented changes to aim assist immediately following feedback from the community. In the hopes of balancing the game for both inputs, the feature has been nerfed in the latest patch.

This has annoyed Call of Duty fans who don't understand why Raven Software and Sledgehammer Studios don't follow a similar strategy for aim assist.

Call of Duty fans want the devs to copy The Finals aim assist plan

Despite The FINALS only being in its infancy, Embark has already made the decision to reduce camera magnetism from 50% to 35%. This effectively makes controller aim less sticky and lowers accuracy across the board for those who use the input.

To put it into perspective, it's estimated that MW3 and Warzone have around 60% magnetism when it comes to aim assist, so it's significantly higher.

Taking to the CoDWarzone subreddit, Call of Duty players have reacted to the news and are confused as to why MW3 & Warzone have not been balanced to aid MnK competitors.

"60% is nutty, just think about that number - that means if you're engaging RAA properly, then factually, just as a matter of basic math, the game itself is contributing more to your aim than you are… Astounding," said one user, with another claiming, "If I were MnK I would move to the finals. Make COD devs hear you through your participation rates."

Why are CoD devs so hesitant to adjust aim assist?

While the Call of Duty devs are incredibly tight-lipped when it comes to aim assist, it's no secret that a huge proportion of the community use controller.

As a result, making sweeping aim assist changes could potentially upset the entire casual playerbase. This is because it's effectively making everyone who uses a controller significantly worse overnight.

The game becomes a lot less fun when you're getting less kills than usual, so it's possible the devs don't want to risk frustrating a big portion of their community.

With The Finals taking on aim assist head-on and Apex Legends promising changes in the future, Call of Duty runs the risk of falling behind, and in turn, continuing to upset a lot of MnK players.
