CoD fans want ‘cringe’ superpowers to be removed

The most exciting aspect of the Season 4 Reloaded patch in MW2 & Warzone 2 was, without a doubt, The Boys crossover.

With skins for Homelander, Starlight, and Black Noir, the superhero Operators have quickly taken over multiplayer, Vondel, and Al Mazrah.

While the cosmetics have been well-received, the Temp-V Field Upgrade that grants competitors one of four random superpowers has been met with more of a mixed reception.

For a lot of players, these powerful abilities are "cringe" and don't fit the Call of Duty theme at all. As a result, they think it's time the superpowers were removed.

CoD players slam "cringe" superpowers

Taking to Twitter on July 18, popular Call of Duty Twitter account ModernWarzone hosted a poll asking players for their thoughts on superpowers in Warzone 2.

In total, 63% voted that they are "cringe" and need to be removed immediately, with another 10% arguing they're not fun. This means in total, 73% of the over 44,000 votes cast were against superpowers in CoD matches.

To counter this, it's worth noting 27% of the poll did make it clear they found the abilities "fun," so there's certainly a portion of the community who enjoy them.

However, some fans were extremely vocal in their opposition towards the Temp V Filed upgrade, with one user making it clear "They should leave the superpowers to Fortnite and not COD, it's corny as hell."

Of course, not everyone hates the superpowers in Warzone 2, but the majority of players do think they could have been added to the game in a more suitable manner. As they're so different to the typical Military theme, certain fans believe "they should have been in their own playlist from the start."

Others agree, arguing it's fine to have these flashy abilities, but they "Should be its own specific LTM and not everywhere." That way, the community is given a choice on whether they want to engage with the superpowers, meaning it isn't forced into their matches.
