CoD fans divided over whether 'sweaty' bunny-hopping should return

Having an impeccable aim in Call of Duty is no longer enough, you also have to have the movement mechanics to glide across the map.

Over recent years, the art of manoeuvring and dancing around bullets has become more important than ever, which is much to the dismay of many OG fans.

The embrace of slide-cancelling and mobility techniques has led to some players asking whether bunny-hopping should return. A trick that was possible back in the days of Verdansk and previous games, it allows you to maintain your momentum moving forward while bouncing through the air.

Should bunny-hopping return to MW3 & Warzone?

Taking to Twitter on May 12, the popular Call of Duty account ModernWarzone decided to ask the community whether bunny-hopping should make a return in MW3 and Warzone.

This divisive topic led to multiple opinions, but a portion of the fanbase supported it strongly, arguing the devs had "no reason" to remove the mechanic in the first place.

"No reason why they should have removed them in the first place, all the people saying it shouldn’t be in the game are just tryna be different... I didn’t hear one complaint about it for the 3 years we had Warzone 1," said one user, with another claiming, "Should’ve never left, it’s literally a different game with it lmao we need it."

For many, MW2019's "fluid" movement was brilliant because of bunny-hopping, and since its removal, CoD mobility has felt sluggish.

Not everyone agrees, though, and a lot of Call of Duty players are passionately against "lazy" bunny-hopping ever coming back to multiplayer and Battle Royale.

From their perspective, the mechanic makes the skill gap too high and "will just chase more casual players away." Without the casual community, some fans argue it'll be the "final nail in the coffin" and a "terrible direction" for the future of the franchise.

"Hell f**king no! I can’t wait for all hopping to be out of the game in GENERAL," said one user, with another arguing, "Shooting while jumping should not be a function man, or at least it should come with severe recoil."

There's no indication that Sledgehammer Games has any intention of bringing back bunny-hopping in the near future. However, if it did, it would be guaranteed to split the opinion of the community and likely annoy a lot of casual fans.
