CoD confirm Operators, weapons & skin bundles will carry over to MW3

Thanks to Call of Duty's live service business model in MW2, players have collected blueprints, Operators, skins, and (of course) weapons throughout the game's life cycle.

A lot of these collectables have been purchased with CoD points, so the majority of fans don't want to leave behind the items they've bought when Modern Warfare 3 is expected to arrive in November.

After leaks surfaced recently, Call of Duty has confirmed that Operators, weapons, and bundles will carry forward to MW3 from MW2. Although this has been met with widespread praise, some players are concerned this means MW3 is going to be a "$70 DLC" and not a fully-fledged new title.

Taking to Twitter on July 18, Call of Duty's official account hosted a poll asking the community, "Should #MWII Operators, Weapons and Bundles carry forward into Call of Duty 2023?"

Both answers to the poll were "yes," confirming that all items from MW2 will carry over to the new title. This is especially great news for anyone that's amassed a large number of collectables or cosmetics. As you would expect, this announcement garnered a lot of praise from the community.

One supporter described it as a "good step forward," while another celebrated that this is proof things are "changing for the better." Despite this, others are concerned this is proof that MW3 is going to be more of a DLC than a new game.

With all weapons carrying over to MW3, this suggests that there are going to be significantly fewer new guns in the next CoD title.

For some, this is extremely disappointing and has led them to ask "Should Modern Warfare III only cost $35 considering it shouldn't be a full $70 when it was just built off of Modern Warfare II that we've already paid for?"

Others agree, claiming this confirms that Activision is "going to sell an update to MWII as a new full-priced game."

It's clear this news has split the CoDverse in half, and while keeping the cosmetics you've paid for is always going to be a positive addition, it may mean MW3 is going to be far too similar to MW2 in the eyes of a lot of fans.
