CDPR talks Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, but there’s bad news
CD Projekt Red's time on Cyberpunk 2077 has been turbulent, to say the least. The game's launch was one of the most catastrophic debuts in the industry's history - proving that no amount of aspiration can make up for a game that's fundamentally broken and buggy on every corner.
Thankfully, new-gen upgrades and updates have helped balance the title into a more playable state, meaning players are finally getting the Cyberpunk 2077 experience that they were promised back in 2020. And now that the game is on its feet, talk has turned to its potential sequel - and it looks like it's on its way.

Though we found out about the sequel itself back in October with the reveal of a project codenamed Project Orion, CDPR has now addressed the game itself once again. The developer is already looking at potential hires to get involved.
A new careers page has appeared for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, listing "spontaneous application," with the page simply reading: "Are you interested in joining our newest studio in Boston and work on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077? If so, feel free to drop your CV for the future!"
Alongside a brand-new studio in Boston as the team relocates from Poland, it's good news that CDPR is on the recruitment drive. However, the downside of this news means the next game is likely a long way away.
Cyberpunk 2077's sequel is likely years away
As CD Projekt Red isn't hiring for any specific role - and is looking for people who are simply interested in joining the company's team for the game - it doesn't seem like any job titles are ready to be filled right now. This suggests a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is likely incredibly early in development.
We're not likely to get a full-blown return to Night City for a couple of years, and that's forgetting the various Witcher games CDPR is working on. It's shame for Cyberpunk fans - but hey, at least it gives us time to actually finish the first game and play the long-awaited Phantom Liberty DLC. Better late than never.
