The whopping $30 price tag on Call of Duty's new BlackCell Battle Pass has been widely controversial, especially with the pay-to-win DMZ bundles piled on top, but the subscription and its luxurious Operators aren't actually as nice as they first appeared.

The 12 Operator skins found within the BlackCell Battle Pass all come as spruced-up versions of the original Battle Pass skins, with golden trimmings like tinsel on a Christmas reef.

But, despite the glossy makeover, fans are now mocking the BlackCell collection, comparing them to Cee Lo Green's iconic Grammy 2017 look and the Star Wars robot, C-3PO.

MW2 fans mock C3PO lookalike skins

The new Call of Duty skin line, BlackCell, arrived in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 in Season 3, working as a premium upgrade to the standard Battle Pass and rewarding paying customers with a bucket load of CoD Points.

However, the skins have now been actively mocked on social media, as the "golden tinfoil" has made the Operators look more like the dithering C-3PO than actual characters.

"Shout out CeeLo-3PO," mocked another fan. Other skins have also appeared akin to Star Wars characters. At this point, Infinity Ward might as well announce a full collaboration.

MW2 players prefer free Battle Pass skins to 'tinfoil' BlackCell upgrade

Most Modern Warfare 2 players will have earned enough CP throughout the first two Seasons' Battle Pass to be able to purchase Season 3's without having to spend a penny, and it seems like the general consensus is that the skins in the free pass are better than the $30 BlackCell upgrades'.

"Ghost and Atom look really good in the gold, but the rest are better as their originals," said another Redditor.

The $30 price tag does appear quite substantial, given that each skin has the same theme. Unless you really are into that black and gold over-the-top appearance, then you might want to save your pennies.
