Call of Duty is advertising for you to stop playing Call of Duty

It appears that, while Call of Duty's player count continues to decline, even the publishers themselves have accepted defeat. Now, they're telling you to play different games.

Warzone 2 - or simply Warzone as it's set to rebrand to following the recent Vondel map leaks - has not enjoyed a very successful launch, and instead has been stifled massively.

In its wisdom, Activision has seemingly decided that it's fine with the death of Season 3, at least, and has told players to go and head to Diablo 4 instead.

Unlike Warzone, Diablo 4 has been a revelation since its release. Blizzard's hellish title has been dubbed by many as "the game of the year."

Now, Activision Blizzard is pushing Call of Duty players to join in the fun on its other blockbuster game franchise and has begun spinning out advertising it in both Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. 

"You can now experience the ultimate action RPG with endless evil to slaughter, nightmarish dungeons, and brutal PvP zones. Begin your fight for the fate of Sanctuary today," reads the Diablo 4 advert.

The message of the day pops up to every Call of Duty player, which could be enough to sway a good portion of the community to ditch the shooter franchise for something new.

With Activision owning both game series - and having already released crossovers between their franchises before such as the Call of Duty and Crash Bandicoot items - some gamers want a little more prompting than just a pop-up message.

For many, they'd actually consider playing Diablo 4 if there were some free items to claim. "They would've had a more positive impact giving like a free Diablo-themed charm or something," said one fan. Another added, "Diablo skins in-game when?"

Maybe we will see a crossover in the future, but for now, Skyrim is the only dungeon crawler to have a Call of Duty crossover...
