As the saying goes, you can never please everyone, and as Sledgehammer Games has already found out, you can give the Call of Duty community everything it asks for and it will never be enough.

Although Activision might have indirectly inferred that Modern Warfare 2 will be a two-year title, the second-year DLC has now been fully fledged out to become a title of its own, and in a gesture of goodwill, the developers will be allowing skins to carry over to Modern Warfare 3.

The decision comes as leaks suggest that all guns and weapons will also carry on through, alongside new and returning classic weapons from years gone by, allowing players to keep the monetary items that they have bought. However, not everyone is impressed.

Call of Duty fans confused as Activision allow items to carry into Modern Warfare 3

In years gone by, Call of Duty has never allowed skins to transfer through games, even controversially blocking Warzone 1 skins to arrive in Warzone 2.

Now though, the developers are opening the gates - yet Call of Duty fans are hard-pressed by the news. Even CoD site CharlieIntel blasted the decision as players have been openly leaving bundles, such as The Boys collaborations, being under the impression that they will not be playable in a few months time.

"It is crazy that Activision waited till now to confirm that MWII bundles & operators would transfer to MWIII. I’m sure many people didn’t buy bundles because they didn’t want to lose the content like what happened when Warzone 2 launched, and probably caused MTX sales to be lower," the page said on Twitter.

It also doubled down on its stance, saying that Activision made this decision months ago, but never revealed it to the public until now.

With the news circulating, one fan branded Activision as a "joke", given its stance on Warzone 1 Operators.

"But they couldn’t transfer them from mw19 and wz1 SMH. What a joke of a company," they said.

Other fans are now wanting their old purchases from other games to carry through too. "They should just transfer the stuff from MW2019 and Cold War now. That’s where I spent most of my money and I’d love playing as Ghostface in the newer game," added another.

Most fans of the franchise will still be quite content to see cats, rats, wolves, and Nicki Minaj running around on Modern Warfare 3 though.
