When VALORANT launched, it was dubbed as Counter-Strike meets Overwatch. But what happens when VALORANT meets Overwatch, Call of Duty, and Magic the Gathering? The answer is FragPunk, and it looks sick!

As FragPunk's Beta came to an end, the unexpected game is causing a stir of excitement with its bullet-bouncing mechanics. Some are calling it the most fun FPS they've played in years.

Shroud shows off new bullet-bouncing FragPunk in style

FragPunk was first announced at the 2024 Xbox Summer Showcase, which was soon dwarfed by Call of Duty Direct and the Black Ops 6 reveal, leaving Bad Guitar Studio's title flying under the radar.

The 5v5 tactical shooter uses the VALORANT and Counter-Strike round-based format and mixes it with cards that activate abilities and give additional boosts to heroes. It then adds in a very CoD-style of gunplay over the one-tap PC-heavy stylistic.

As usual, FragPunk is a game already mastered by FPS guru Michael "Shroud" Grzesiek, as he's put in a lengthy stint of gameplay.

The streamer went viral on social media for a clip which showed him taking advantage of the ricochet wildcard, effectively allowing him to bounce sniper bullets off the walls and catch anyone in his AWP crosshairs.

"I can't believe how sneaky this game is. It just came out SO good. It runs good, it looks good, it plays good. It has new things that we've never seen before. What the heck," said Shroud. "How did they come out with this out of nowhere?" More content creators have raved over FragPunk, too.

"The game's pretty fun," agreed fellow FPS superstar Brandon "aceu" Winn. "It's kind of dank but it's pretty fun to play." Jake Lucky then shared Shroud's clip and left jaws on the floor. One fan cheered, "Really hope this game can break through, it looks like a lot of fun."

Another added, "This game is actually one of the most unique games I've played in a while. I hope it blows up and gets handled by the devs well. It has A LOT of potential," however, one critic concluded, "No skill on this tbh, dummy-ready mechanics. No thank you for me."

If you want to play FragPunk, there will be a bit of a wait. Now that the close Beta has ended, Bad Guitar Studios is taking it back into the lab ahead of its "2025 release" on Xbox and PC.
