Battlefield 2042 Bug Lets Players Survive Death
A lucky Battlefield 2042 player managed to escape from a melee attack without so much as a scratch on them, due to a bug.
The person doing the attacking was trying out the third-person melee, however, it didn't work out as intended.
DICE recently decided to change the melee execution from first-person to third-person in Battlefield 2042, which sounds great in theory. But in practice, it appears that the glitch is letting the intended target walk away unharmed.
Battlefield 2042 Bug: What's The Problem With The Third-Person Melee?
According to GameRant, a YouTube video from Battlefield 2042 Clips Daily showed off the player's perspective as they did the melee execution move. Unfortunately, instead of killing them, they then turned around and shot the player, taking the win.
To add insult to injury, the would-be victim then teabags the player. Ouch.
Battlefield 2042: What's The Reception From Fans Been Like?
At the time of writing (November 19), Battlefield 2042 is not exactly getting a brilliant reception. In fact, Steam reviews are saying 'mostly negative' currently, as only 21% of the 6,000+ reviews for the game are currently positive.
There have been complaints regarding removing classes, limited weapons at launch, and ongoing server lag. A small update has already been released by EA, and they claim that we can expect another two patches over the next 30 days. EA said that these fixes will be: "delivering more fixes and improvements that we’ve identified during this first week of Early Access, and a larger and more substantial update following after that."
Battlefield 2042: What Was Fixed In The Day-One Patch?
You can check out the full patch notes on EA's website here, but some of the highlights include:
- Significantly reduced instances of stuttering when playing on Breakaway. If the Silos are destroyed, it should no longer reduce performance on the server.
- When looking at allies on your team, their names will now correctly display.
- Fixed a rare occurrence in Hazard Zone that would sometimes cause the End of Round flow to not activate correctly, ensuring that the correct amount of bonus XP was awarded.
- Repaired an issue found in Hazard Zone that could cause players to be shown on the Map when they were not visible, or spotted.
For the time being, we'd suggest keeping your wits about you if you're planning a melee kill out there on the battlefield. Battlefield 2042 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
