It seems Assassin's Creed is the basket that Ubisoft is more than willing to leave all of its eggs in, and fans aren't yet sure that it's going to be a good idea in the long run.

To go so hard on the franchise wasn't unexpected, but as the company pushes harder than ever to make Assassin's Creed work after many feel that the glory days are over, could turn out to be a pretty sore strategy.

Now, as fans have discovered a hidden detail about the upcoming Assassin's Creed Mirage, they're worried that the future of AC will be littered with microtransactions.

Assassin's Creed Mirage leak suggests microtransactions

A leak has found its way to the assassinscreed subreddit, indicating to many that microtransactions are going to be a part of Assassin's Creed Mirage. Although it gives players the option to buy minor cosmetics, it's a feature that is frowned upon after paying for a full game.

The reveal appears to come via in-game menu advertisments, with one asking players to join Ubisoft Connect to get some exclusive in-game rewards. The other flexes the "Fire Demon Pack," that seems to offer players a set of armour, a fiery blade, and a new animal companion.

This is alarming for some players, as even though this isn't entirely new for Assassin's Creed, the continuation of this frustrating application was hoped to have been weaned off of the franchise at this stage.

Fans have taken to the comments of the Reddit post to share their thoughts on the microtransactions - but it looks like some players aren't all that fussed.

"I mean... The pegi or esrb or whatever rating already stated it will have microtransactions so no surprise here," says one comment.

"I can't bring myself to be majorly upset at this, if I'm honest," says another. "I won't buy them, but if someone else does so what? If they want to throw away their money, that's on them. And in a single-player game, it's not like what someone else does affects me in any way."

Annoying though it may be, it looks as though Assassin's Creed Miraje players have finally succumbed to accepting a microtransaction-laden fate. How bleak.
