Few titles have shaken the gaming industry quite like Call of Duty: Warzone. Launching in March 2020, the battle royale favourite was well-timed to see us through lockdown, and with us all locked up in our homes, it made a not-so-small fortune. Since then, the Warzone family has only grown.

Through the destruction of Verdansk to '80 revamps, Rebirth Island to lows like Caldera, and the introduction of Warzone 2.0 to Al Mazrah, we've been through it all. Now, a new dawn is here for Call of Duty, with Warzone Mobile taking the bombastic action on the go - even if most are playing with a controller.

Warzone Mobile slammed by Android users

It's fair to say that Warzone Mobile has been prioritising Apple users, with the "Peak Graphics Mode" option giving iPhone 15 Pro and iPad owners a big advantage. Like when PlayStation owners got years of Sony-exclusive content and perks, Android players being locked in the cold hasn't gone unnoticed.

Although Warzone Mobile has been downloaded a whopping 10 million times on Google Play Store, the user reviews are less than glowing. The average user rating is a reasonably respectable 3.5/5, but when you dive into the worst reviews, the real problems are highlighted.

One critic grumbled, "The idea of WZ being on mobile devices is great. Waited 2 years in pre-registration. That being said, I'm disappointed. The graphics streaming is a major downgrade from just having your typical settings that you can adjust. My device overheats after only loading a match."

Another raged, "I get what they are trying to do, and it's cool and all, but honestly, its horrible..... frame rate is bad, lagging everywhere, can even go a sec without freezing or lagging, phone freezes, and get kicked out or have to restart everytime, I'll stick to mw3 on console until they can fix EVERYTHING."

A third said, "Probably the worse game I've ever had the displeasure of downloading, first you say you have to play the game to get better graphics, when has any game in the history of gaming has that ever had to be done, whether it be on console, PC or mobile?? NEVER!!"

Despite Warzone Mobile's infancy, it's already setting an awkward precedent with bugs and glitches. You'll know this is one of the major sticking points of the console Warzone, and while rampant cheaters are arguably its biggest problem, barely a week goes by that we don't cover some game-breaking glitch.

If Warzone Mobile wants to break free from the shadow of its bigger brother, it needs to try and knock these bugs on the head. Android seems to be particularly problematic, but thankfully, Activision took to Twitter to promise fixes for this demographic.

Showcasing fixes for full-fidelity graphics, speeding up streaming capabilities, 'various' corruptions, and unsupported GPU problems, the team said it is "addressing a number of things to improve performance further." Even though we're only at the start of Warzone Mobile's life cycle, now is the time for the devs to strike.
