Activision has finally fixed Xbox 360 Call of Duty matchmaking
In the wake of a major advancement in the Microsoft and Activision merger, the Call of Duty series is taking some surprising steps on Xbox.
The future of the Call of Duty franchise is finely poised with Microsoft’s takeover, with a Game Pass addition mooted.
But it now seems that Microsoft and Activision have already made their first move, as the old-school Call of Duty games have just been revived on Xbox 360.
Activision revives Call of Duty games on Xbox 360
Just a matter of days after Microsoft was given the green light in their Activision acquisition in the United States (subject to an FTC appeal), both parties have now reactivated the matchmaking systems on Xbox 360 Call of Duty games, which had previously been dormant.
Lobbies in Black Ops 1, Modern Warfare 2, and even World at War are now active, where, despite some slight bumps in connectivity issues, the games are back up and running smoothly.
These titles had been laid to rest years ago, with only the campaigns being available for players in the last half-decade. The old-gen versions are only available on Xbox 360, and not on PlayStation 3 or PC though.

Players have already lambasted the current state of the games with laser-vision field upgrades, and have been dipping back into Black Ops Cold War and Advanced Warfare to find a slither of joy in the Call of Duty series.
As Modern Warfare 2's player count plummets though, at least Activision is keeping players within the Call of Duty franchise, especially when Roblox, XDefiant, and Fortnite are serving as hot competition.
