A Mario Kart And Family Guy Crossover Is On The Way
Just when you thought M&M's Kart Racing was the biggest desecration of the racing genre you could imagine, someone decides to race across the finish line with a bizarre Family Guy and King of the Hill crossover. Yes, if you ever wanted to see Brian Griffin throw a blue shell at Peggy Hill, now you can.
Although there have been plenty of karting games over the decades, it's the continued success of Nintendo's Mario Kart that's paved away. We've come a long way from eight races and the blocky sprites of 1992's Super Mario Kart, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe being the best-selling racing game in US history. The formula works, and it sounds like 20th Century Fox knows that.
What Is Warped Kart Racers?
There have been some truly maddening karting crossovers over the years, but presumably hoping to take a leaf out of Diddy Kong Racing or Crash Team Racing's book, Warped Kart Racers is fuelling up in the garage. Coming to Apple Arcade, there are 20 characters zooming their way around 16 courses.
On the starting block, we have characters from Family Guy, American Dad, King of the Hill, and Solar Opposites. There's a varied range of characters from all four, but did you ever really expect you'd see Roger the alien behind the wheels of a kart?
The App Store listing confirms there will be online multiplayer mode for up to 8 players, alongside an "extensive single-player campaign," and daily challenges. We're told you can unlock new racers and karting customisation, so it's likely this isn't the finalised roster of racers. Then again, we're left wondering who asked for this in the first place
Isn't Warped Kart Racers A Weird Idea?

Sure, Family Guy was a big deal back in the day, American Dad is still pretty funny, and King of the Hill is getting a reboot, but Solar Opposites? Come on. Unlike Rick and Morty, Justin Roiland's other series has hardly hit the mainstream to warrant its inclusion in a karting game.
We're also furiously asking where are the Simpsons in all of this? Back in the day, The Simpsons and racing went hand in hand. Although not traditional karting titles, The Simpsons: Road Rage and The Simpsons: Hit & Run were icons in their own right. At the moment, it feels like developer Electric Square has thrown the kitchen sink at the popularity of karting games. Remembering how much of a bust Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl was, we doubt Warped Kart Racers will be toppling Mario Kart from the top of its game.
